The XTRASORB® HCS Dressing has a dual function of being both a hydrogel and a hydrocolloid. It works by moisturizing dry to slightly exuding wounds, while also absorbing a significant amount of exudates. In fact, its absorbency is superior to other hydrocolloid dressings. This dressing is made of a mixture of water and glycerin for hydration, as well as a blend of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (Sodium CMC) and super absorbent polymers for optimal absorption and gelling. As fluid is absorbed, it forms a gel that remains in place and does not leave any residue in the wound bed.
