Covidien’s Chromic Gut Absorbable Sutures are sterile surgical sutures made of purified connective tissue, mostly collagen, extracted from the serosa of bovine intestines. The sutures are stored in 89% isopropanol, 10% water, and 1% triethanolamine. The sutures are further treated with chromic salt solution for increased strength, smoothness, and predictable absorption. Chromic Gut Absorbable Sutures are strong and suitable for various general soft tissue operations, excluding cardiovascular or neurological surgery.
